This
symposium, which is the natural continuation of
the previous INSINUME conferences, held in Fleurus-Belgium,
Albena-Bulgaria and Kusadasi-Turkey, has a dual
purpose.
First
of all, it wants to bring together Radioecologists,
Regulatory Authorities as well as Radiological
Monitoring System Operators, in order to allow
a wide exchange of information regarding practical
experience and difficulties encountered in daily
radiological monitoring of environment.
On
the other hand, the symposium intends to focus
on the modern nuclear metrological tools, which
could be used nowadays to ease the direct remote
surveillance of the radiological status of seas,
rivers, lakes and earth surface. In the past,
these tools were suffering from a lack of sensitivity
and reliability and were for that reason mainly
used for health physics control that did’nt
require such a high accuracy. New systems are
now at the disposal of mathematical model users
and radioecologists for investigating radioactive
contaminants dispersion in normal conditions as
well as in case of incidents.
On
basis of acquired experience and metrology progress,
the final object of the symposium is to help the
environment radioprotection world, to harmonise
its rules, and thus to perform in the future a
realistic and useful radiological monitoring.
Message
of Mr Rachid EL MRABET
Head of the International Organizing Committee of INSINUME 2008
As Head of the International Organizing Committee, I would like to start cordially this message inviting you to participate in the INSINUME 08 International Symposium, to be held in Rabat (Morocco) in October 13th to 16th, 2008. This event, which is the natural continuation of the previous INSINUME symposiums held in the Belgium (2002), Bulgaria (2004) and Turkey (2006), is an important occasion for the meeting of all the community that, from different viewpoints (technical, regulatory, etc), is involved in Radioecology.
The organizing committees are working hard in order to reach in the INSINUME 08 International Symposium the same success that in the previous INSINUME symposiums. Our hope is to contribute in the consolidation of an event where every two years all the ample community involved in Radioecology and Nuclear Metrology can exchange information, advances and ideas. For these reasons, I take the opportunity to kindly ask you for the maximum dissemination of this symposium among your colleagues. And I also ask you for your active participation in the event through the presentation of your latest results and/or studies in the symposium. A call for papers is open until the 15th of May 2008 for the presentation of contributions, especially in the topics highlighted in other sections of this web page.
The organizing committee will maintain contact with the people interested to participate in the symposium mainly through e-mail, and through this web-page. The web-page will be regularly updated with all the new information generated regarding the symposium, and it will include new sections or information required by the participants. In this sense, I kindly ask you to suggest us through the symposium e-mail, ideas to improve the effectiveness of the web-page and new sections to be included.
We think that Rabat, an open town to the visitors and characterised for a millenary history, a unique culture heritage and a mild weather in the autumn (temperatures ranging between 20ºC and 28ºC) is an ideal place for the symposium. And taking the opportunity offered by the town, we are preparing a cultural and historical program complementing the scientific program of the conference, in order to show to the scientific community some essential aspects of our culture and way of life and to facilitate, in a nice atmosphere, the interaction among the participants.
We wait for you in Rabat next autumn. Welcome to Rabat!!!
